Nephrectomy

What is Nephrectomy?
Nephrectomy is the process of removal of the kidney. The process takes place to treat cancer and other kidney diseases as well. There are two kinds of Nephrectomy 1 is partial Nephrectomy, in which only a part of the diseased damaged kidney is removed and radical Nephrectomy is where the whole kidney is removed along with a section of tube which connects to the bladder.

What is pyeloplasty?
Pyeloplasty is the surgical reconstruction of a part of the kidney to drain or to decompose the kidney. The blockage is made where the kidney connects to the ureter, the tube from which carries the urine from the kidney to the bladder.

How much time is required?
The process takes 2-3 hours and the patient would have to stay in the hospital for 2-3 days.

What are the tests required?
Blood and urine tests are required before the procedure.
